Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Welcome to Qissah. These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Qissah's website, mobile experience, and any related services (together, "the Service"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance & eligibility
You confirm that (a) you are at least 18 years old; (b) you are using the Service as a parent or legal guardian on behalf of any child whose details you enter; and (c) you have the legal authority to enter into these Terms on behalf of your household.
If you are accessing Qissah from outside the United Kingdom, local laws may also apply, and you are responsible for ensuring your use of the Service is lawful in your country of residence.
2. What Qissah is — and isn't
Qissah is a consumer storytelling tool. It uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised Islamic stories for young children, based on details you provide (such as your child's name, age, interests, and a chosen theme). Each generated story is displayed alongside one or more Qur'anic verses and a hadith retrieved verbatim from a verified content store.
Qissah is not:
a source of religious instruction, fatwa, or scholarly opinion;
a substitute for parental judgment, supervision, or guidance;
affiliated with any religious authority, mosque, or scholar.
For questions of Islamic teaching, please consult a qualified scholar in your community.
3. AI-generated content disclaimer
Qissah generates stories using artificial intelligence. While we apply content-integrity safeguards — including strict rules that prevent the AI from generating Qur'anic verses or hadith on its own, age-appropriateness filters, and curation of source material — we make no guarantee that every generated story is free from errors, omissions, or content you may find unsuitable.
Stories are personalised based on the details you provide and may reflect those details imperfectly. Qissah is a tool to help you tell stories to your child; it is not a substitute for a parent's own judgment.
4. Parental review requirement
You agree to read or review each story before sharing it with your child. You alone are responsible for determining whether a particular story is appropriate for your child's age, English fluency, religious upbringing, and emotional state.
We make features such as editing the narrative and choosing audio narrators available so that you can adapt or replace any content that doesn't suit your family. By using these tools after editing a story, you accept responsibility for the edited version.
5. Scripture, hadith & religious framing
Qur'anic verses displayed alongside stories are retrieved verbatim from a verified translation. Hadith are displayed from authenticated collections (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim) and shown with their source and narrator chain.
However, Qissah is a consumer app, not a source of religious instruction or scholarly opinion. The surrounding narrative is fictional and written by AI; it should not be quoted as authoritative Islamic teaching. The selection of verses or hadith for any given topic reflects an editorial choice, not a scholarly verdict.
6. Account, security & family use
One adult account is permitted per household. Sharing your account credentials with anyone outside your household is not permitted.
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. We are not liable for any unauthorised access resulting from sharing or weak passwords.
You are responsible for all activity that takes place under your account.
Where the Family Pro tier allows additional family members to access the same library (a feature that may be added in the future), it is for personal family use only — not for resale or commercial distribution.
7. Subscription, payment & cancellation
Qissah offers a Free tier and paid Family and Family Pro tiers. The features and limits of each tier are described on the pricing page and may change from time to time.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually in advance. You authorise us (or our payment processor) to charge your chosen payment method on each renewal.
You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
iOS purchases (App Store): if you subscribe inside our iOS app, your purchase is processed by Apple and is also subject to Apple's terms. Billing, renewals, cancellation, and any refunds for iOS subscriptions are handled through your Apple ID / App Store subscription settings — not through Qissah.
No refunds for partial periods. If you cancel mid-cycle, you retain access to your paid tier until the end of the period; no refunds are issued for unused time. (Refunds for iOS purchases are at Apple's discretion under their policy.)
We reserve the right to change prices. Existing subscribers will receive at least 30 days' notice before any price change takes effect on their plan.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
use Qissah for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose;
attempt to access, scrape, decompile, or reverse-engineer the Service;
resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit Qissah outputs without our written permission;
use Qissah to generate content for any purpose other than personal family enjoyment;
attempt to bypass the AI content safeguards — for example by submitting prompts via parent notes or the edit feature that solicit inappropriate, sectarian, or harmful content;
upload any photo other than one of yourself (or, where the feature permits, your own child) that you have the right to use — never upload a photo of any other person, or any image you do not have permission to upload;
submit false, misleading, or harmful information when creating child profiles or interacting with the Service.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules.
9. Intellectual property
Our IP. The Qissah software, design, brand marks, written prompts, narrator personas, and curated editorial content (including but not limited to topic descriptions, lesson summaries, and essence paragraphs) are owned by Qissah LTD and protected by copyright and other applicable laws.
Your stories. Stories generated for you on Qissah remain available in your account for personal use. We do not claim ownership of the personal details you contribute (your child's name, your edits, etc.). You grant Qissah a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to store, process, and display generated content as necessary to operate the Service for you.
Content you upload (avatar photos). You keep ownership of any photo you upload to create an avatar. You confirm that the photo is of yourself (or, where the feature permits, your own child) and that you have the right to upload it. You grant Qissah LTD a limited licence to process that photo for the sole purpose of generating your stylized avatar; the original photo is deleted immediately afterwards, and only the generated avatar is stored for your use. You may delete the avatar at any time.
Third-party content. Qur'anic verses are displayed in a verified scholarly translation. Hadith are displayed from Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim. We endeavour to attribute and quote these sources accurately at all times.
10. Limitation of liability & indemnification
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, theological accuracy, or freedom from errors.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Qissah, its operators, employees, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service, including (without limitation) damages arising from:
the content of any generated story;
any inaccuracy in religious references, quotations, or pronunciation in audio narration;
any emotional, religious, or developmental effect of the content on a child;
service interruptions, data loss, or security incidents.
Our total liability to you, for any cause whatsoever, shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Indemnification. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Qissah and its operators from any claims, damages, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party.
11. Changes, termination, governing law & contact
Changes to the Service or these Terms. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of Qissah at any time. We may also update these Terms periodically; the "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be notified in-app or by email to your registered address.
Termination. Either you or we may terminate your account at any time, with or without notice. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will survive.
Governing law. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Kingdom.
Contact. Questions about these Terms or the Service can be emailed to support@qissah.io.
